PRINCE2® ACO Accreditation Criteria

This page provides information on the eligibility criteria for Consultants considering applying for accreditation, as well as, organisations.

Purpose Definitions

  • Consulting Organisation - Any legally accepted terms used to define a commercial entity providing consultancy advice.
  • Consultant - An individual providing advice on a consultancy basis.

Eligibility of Organisation

To be eligible for certification as an Accredited Consulting Organisation (ACO) a consulting organisation must apply in writing to APMG, forward the appropriate fee and meet the following criteria: -

  • At the time of application, have run at least one project/programme management consultancy assignment within the previous 12 months from date of application.  For organisations that have been trading for less than 2 years, at least one director or senior employee must have run 3 or more consultancy assignments within the previous 36 months
  • At all times, undertake to have only the appropriate Registered Consultants leading any PRINCE2® assignment.  Non-registered consultants can assist Registered Consultants to deliver consulting assignments
  • At all times, have at least one consultant meeting the eligibility criteria described below.

Eligibility of PRINCE2 Registered Consultants

To be eligible for certification as Registered Consultants, individuals must be sponsored by an ACO, pay the appropriate fee and meet the following criteria: -

  • Have 2 years experience in management consultancy services in general and 2 years experience in the PRINCE2 method in particular
  • Demonstrate knowledge of PRINCE2 by passing the PRINCE2 Examination with a percentage of not less than 66% on the Practitioner paper.
  • Be able to provide a minimum of four valid professional referees (three names to be provided)
  • Be able to present full oral evidence of at least one completed management consultancy assignment
  • Be able to present full oral evidence of at least one completed consultancy assignment
  • Be able to provide a portfolio of evidence to show that the required standards can be met
  • Demonstrate that they will promote a professional image, particularly when presenting ideas and findings to a client.
